You Won’t Believe Who Has the Best-Selling CD of 2016 (No, It Wasn’t Kanye or Beyoncé)

When it comes to the most popular tunes, Pitchfork may have given Kanye West and Beyoncé the #1 and #2 spots on the list of the best music of 2016. But when it comes to a certain kind of sales (in this case CD sales which, tbh, may seem a little old-school at this point, but still…), another famous name took the top spot: Mozart.

That’s right, the massive Mozart 225: The New Complete Edition box set has sold a wild 1.25 million total CDs in the five weeks since its October 28th release (according to Universal Music Group), which makes it the best-selling CD of the year. Impressive for a dude that’s been dead for over 200 years.
